Wedding Music
By Joanne Elliott
Wedding music is a very important choice for a couple to make together for their special day. Music is essential for setting the tone and to create ambience in general, and so the wedding music that you decide to choose for your union obviously deserves careful consideration.
There are no "right or wrong" rules for wedding music, except for the essential fact that your wedding music should be something that you both want to listen to. Wedding music is representative of state of mind and emotion; whether that be lyrically or musical in content. It is possible to create an ambience and adding to the occasion, simply by the music that you choose to pick for your wedding.
Of course there are several different stages of a wedding, and each is both personal and different from wedding to wedding. The individual couple should consider how their guests are greeted to the wedding venue – what sort of wedding music will they listen to in the background as they wait for the ceremony? What sort of wedding music should the bride walk down the aisle to? What sort of wedding music should the new couple depart the ceremony with? And then there’s the reception to consider… whether background music at a meal or at a dance or disco themed party.
Popular Wedding Music Choices
Wedding music selections will obviously always change over time and between cultures. In Western tradition the most popular choice for the bride to walk down the aisle to is still ‘The Wedding March’. But, having said that, it is also absolutely acceptable for the couple to customize their own music to suit their own personal wants and needs. For example, if you have a special song or tune that you both class as ‘your song’, then there is absolutely no reason to not utilize this for the bride’s walk down the aisle.
